The History of TechnoMarine Watches
In 1997 French entrepreneur Frank Dubarry founded TechnoMarine Watches in Geneva Switzerland, and started a horological revolution at the turn of the century with the introduction of oversized chronograph watches for women.
After the initial success of the brand’s first collection, the Raft chronograph a unisex model with interchangeable, multi-colored transparent straps and case covers, Dubarry introduced the TechnoDiamond, a chronograph collection created for women with larger oversized cases measuring 39mm in diameter, interchangeable, transparent strap and cases in fashion colors along with sparkling diamond bezels featuring impressive carat weights.
The Swiss-made TechnoDiamond watch, which offered water-resistance to 200 meters, was one of the most sought-after watches in the summer of 2000. The TechnoDiamond chronograph was soon seen on the wrists of celebrities, fashionistas and trend-setting women.
Many high-end Swiss watchmakers, including Chopard, Omega, Rolex and TAG Heuer soon followed adding women’s chronographs to their collections, a good many with diamond bezels, colorful leather and plastic straps.
Diamond chronographs are still part of TechnoMarine’s assortment today as the brand has transitioned to feature more casually elegant styles, reflecting the cool, understated sophistication of the “Saint Tropez” lifestyle.
